Rick Wickstrom, PT, DPT, CPE, CDMS is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Certified Professional Ergonomist, and Certified Disability Management Specialist. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from the Ohio State University, completed Ph.D. coursework in Ergonomics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and received a clinical doctorate in physical therapy from Alabama State University. Dr. Wickstrom has been a consultant in occupational health for 30 years. He served as the lead editor of the 2009 APTA Guidelines to Evaluating Functional Capacity and has published many articles and technical papers related to functional capacity evaluation, work disability prevention and ergonomics. Dr. Wickstrom regularly testifies as an expert witness on matters concerning extent of physical disability, worker fitness­for­duty and accommodation. His diverse professional practice includes transitional work­site therapy, functional capacity evaluation, worker accommodation studies, ergonomic job analysis, design of worker fitness screening programs, systems development, research, and training. He has invented a number of products, including the patented Physical Agility Tester, Total­Body Dexterity Tester, Adjustable Pull Strap Attachment for the Lafayette MMT, Ergo­Totes Set, WorkAbility Rate of Manipulation Test, WorkAbility Movement Screen, WorkerFIT software, and ExamFIT software. Dr. Wickstrom has dedicated his career to preparing occupational health professionals such as physical therapists with the skills and tools needed to assess functional job demands, evaluate worker fitness, and motivate successful transitions from work performance barriers to self­directed, physical fitness programs.

Frank Gargano, PT, DPT, OCS, CWE, MCTA graduated from Ohio University in 1990 with dual degrees in Physical Therapy and Biological Sciences. In 1999 he became Board Certified in Orthopedics through the American Physical Therapy Association; in 2002 he received his clinical doctorate in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. He is one of forty-three clinicians worldwide certified to teach Brian Mulligan's manual therapy concept Mobilization with Movement. He is President of the Integrative Dry Needling Institute (integrativedryneedling.com).

Dr. Gargano is an international speaker on orthopedics, manual therapy and dry needling for pain management and performance enhancement. He is active in clinical research with a specialty interest in cervical spine disorders and dry needling. He entire career has been based on assessing and optimizing human function and performance. This was the genesis to the development of the WorkerFIT software and Workability fitness assessments.

Dr. Gargano has spent his entire career in a private practice clinical setting and dedicated his professional efforts toward the promotion of autonomy for the Physical Therapy profession. The WorkerFIT and ExamFIT software promotes this mission by providing orthopedic and occupational medicine clinicians with valuable tools to assist industry in reducing needless disability.
